Some of the most iconic images of the Galapagos have to be those of the archipelago’s ultimate beach bum – the sea lion – lying row-upon-row on the shore, lapping up the sun’s rays. These mammals can get away with looking cute and cuddly lounging about with their bellies on display. Us homo sapiens, on the other hand, are not so lucky.
Worry not! Despite the delicious Ecuadorian cuisine, supremely comfortable cabins and spacious decks lined with pampering day beds – passengers have ample opportunity to stretch their legs and keep active.
The notion of “cruising the Galapagos” is somewhat misleading; our guests do not spend all day relaxing on deck waving at passing wildlife – instead days are packed with adventurous expeditions exploring the dramatic scenery of these volcanic islands and their fascinating flora and fauna.
Three daily excursions include trekking across rocky lava fields, ascending volcanoes, sea kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddle boarding around secluded coves. The many different activities aboard our luxury and first class vessels, Origin, Theory, and Letty, all provide one with close wildlife encounters and an excellent way to keep fit (and attempt to work off the light yet gourmet offerings served after every offshore excursion!). If this isn’t enough, the luxury yachts Origin & Theory boast an on-board gym equipped with treadmill, elliptical, free weights and yoga mats.
Days spent in the Galapagos are packed with adventure, awe and wonder, and it’s important to take the time to reflect upon the rich experiences the islands will have brought you. For those looking for some structured and expert-led exercise, we have curated two special Health & Wellness departures onboard Origin with yoga Instructor Carolina Larrea. Leaving November 3-10 (B) and November 10-17 (A) 2019, these exclusive departures are a phenomenal way to nurture your mind, body and spirit whilst absorbing the magic of the Enchanted Islands.
