Where to Stay in Quito, Ecuador – Our Staff Favorites

AUTHOR Daniel Andino

Since the new airport opened in 2013, there have been more direct flights into Quito than ever before. Interest in Ecuador’s historic capitol (and the nearby Galapagos) has skyrocketed. In the hustle and bustle of your exciting trip to the Galapagos Islands, you may find yourself needing a moment to relax away from your own vacation. Recharge with an overnight stay in one of our favorite hotels in Quito. Each offers comfort, local charm, sustainability, and convenience.

For short, one-night stays (and especially late arrivals the evening before a cruise), we recommend choosing a hotel close to the airport in the town of Tababela, which is about 20 km east of Quito. Pro tip: travel time from the airport to Quito can range from 45 to 60 minutes, or more in rush hour.
