MV ORIGIN’s kitchen has the privilege to be managed by Executive Chef Andres Torres. We are proud to welcome him to the MV ORIGIN and talented team of chefs at Ecoventura. We are excited to watch the culinary experience he will share with our guests onboard.
Since Chef Torres was 16 he knew that he had a passion for cooking. He worked through the different kitchens levels gaining experience at the University of Espiritu Santo. During his studies, he participated in several cooking contests as junior chef and represented Ecuador as a kitchen assistant in the Global Chef Challenge 2012, Made in Canada.
In 2013 Chef Torres won first place in the Young Talent Ecuadorian Competition, and since has experienced both national and international recognition for his cuisine. During June 2014 he started an internship with the three Michelin star restaurant, Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain. Later he continued to work with the Roca brothers in Colombia with the Latin America Roca Tour.
Currently he leads a nomadic restaurant in Guayaquil.
Over the next year, we will continue to introduce you to Chef Torres’s unique cuisines and share some photos and recipes from the Galapagos of his creative cooking style.
What can you expect to eat while onboard MV ORIGIN?
You will always have a hot cup of espresso coffee or tea of your choice available to you in your deluxe stateroom. With both hot and cold dishes being served first thing in the morning, your options will be plentiful. Pancakes, crepes and local dishes such as Green Plantain Tigrillos with Cheese will fill your appetite before you set off on your morning hike or snorkel with your guides.

Lunch buffets themed around Italy, Mexico, Peru, Cuba and one of our chef’s favorites, Ecuador, will delight you during your mid day break. The lunch buffets featuring Ecuador are where our Chef is able to feature his favorite dishes such as Green Plantain Dumpling Soup, Mixed Ceviche and Shellfish Rice along with delicious almond and pear tart and flan for dessert.
With ORIGIN’s outdoor BBQ you will also be able to enjoy lunches al fresco, grilled and served to you while you take in the Galapagos landscape.

Dinner is when Chef Torres is able to create unforgettable menus filled with dishes such as Octopus Basque Style, Turkey Roulade, Grilled Prawn and Peruvian Causas Trilogy. Every course will leave you in anticipation of the next while you take a culinary journey through Ecuadorian specialties.
