First Photos of MV ORIGIN’s Inaugural Cruise!

March 2, 2016 by Caroline Eaton 6 Comments

Welcome Aboard MV ORIGIN!

The ORIGIN arrived at her home port of Wreck Bay on the Island of San Cristobal on Thursday evening, February 25th. She was able to reach a maximum speed of 15 knots fully loaded with fuel, water and supplies, with an average sailing speed of 12.5 knots.

ORIGIN left the shipyard in Guayaquil on Feb 24 with a full moon 21 months after Ecoventura began construction on this premium class 20-passenger luxury vessel.

Our President, Santiago Dunn, and CFO, Daniel Plaza, were on hand Sunday to personally greet our first  guests as they arrived for the inaugural cruise February 28th!

ORIGIN was designed as one of the most environmentally friendly vessels in Galapagos, reducing fossil fuel consumption by over 30 percent from similar yachts in the archipelago.

Also, In addition to being 50 percent more spacious than the existing fleet of first class vessels, the curved bow shape was designed to cut through the waves for smoother sailing, allowing the cruising speed to be 30 percent faster than the rest of the fleet.

We have some of the first photos of MV ORIGIN’s inaugural cruise and couldn’t wait to share them with you!

You will find numerous hideaways around ORIGIN for you to either enjoy quiet time alone, or gather as a small group to discuss the wildlife and adventures you had earlier that day. The hammocks are especially popular during the afternoon, between your land excursions, to take a quick nap with the island breeze blowing to keep you refreshed. An owning will be installed this week for more shade!

This ship looks beautiful. We took the Galapagos tour last spring on the Flamingo. We really enjoyed the tour, however, my complaint was the ship. We were in a back cabin by the engines. It was so cramped, to get to the bathroom, once in bed, I had to climb over my husband. Sitting up in bed, I bumped my head on the top of the bed and had a black and blue bump on my forehead for most of the trip.
Seeing the upgrades you added in this new ship, I wish we had been informed of this and planned the trip for a year later.

Hi Leslie – Apologies our team is just seeing this message now, and we are sorry to hear that you struggled with the cabin sizes on the Flamingo. We really do hope you travel with us again in the future on the MV ORIGIN, which is a more spacious yacht. Thank you for your honest feedback and safe travels in 2017 — We hope to have you on board again soon!
