The end of 2015 has been a whirlwind of excitement as we celebrate the holidays onboard with our guests and prepare for the launch of our newest yacht, MV Origin in 2016!
We are grateful for another incredible year of adventures with guests, some which are highlighted across a variety of blogs and news articles. We’ve compiled a few over the past few months below. Enjoy exploring the Galapagos through the eyes of past travelers!
“This is the wonder of a visit to the Galapagos Islands. There is no place on this planet where the indigenous birds, reptiles and mammals are so devoid of fear of humans, allowing the visitor to experience the flora and fauna of this archipelago just as Darwin must have done upon his arrival here in 1835.”
Joanne Dibona’s article Galapagos Islands cruise is wildlife adventure in paradise, won San Diego Press Club First Place Award for travel journalism.
Fresh seafood is one of the delicacies Ecuador is known for. Ceviche is a favorite of the locals, and our chefs know how to prepare some of the best! Recently our ceviche recipe was entered into a contest as a top recipe from Ecuador.
“This recipe comes to us courtesy of the Ecoventura yachts, whose onboard chefs magically turn out exquisite meals day after day, in a galley about the size of my small apartment’s kitchen. If you’ve never attempted to make your own ceviche, give this one a try!”

“Each island that makes up the Galapagos archipelago offers a stunning landscape, captured here by travel photographer Joanne DiBona. Topography ranges from tropical flora to austere lava formations to rocky paths covered with the brilliant sesuvium (carpet weed plant), endemic to the Galapagos. “With such vibrant colors and textures, the islands are a landscape photographer’s dream,” says DiBona.”
Travel +Leisure featured Ecoventura and the Galapagos as one of the top places to visit in 2016. Start planning your trip today!
“The main reason to go is to experience the amazing biodiversity, and you’ll see more Galápagos penguins today than at any time in the past 15 years. These are among the rarest penguins in the world, listed as internationally critically endangered in 2000. But their population has since doubled, upping your chances of spotting the tuxedoed birds”
“A visit to the Galapagos Islands is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which makes it the perfect place for a once-in-a-lifetime moment like popping the question! One iconic spot to consider is Kicker Rock, a volcanic rock formation rising out of the ocean. Take a cruise around the islands through a company like Ecoventura, which sails past Kicker Rock just after a brilliant sunrise. Pictured: Kicker Rock; Photo by Eduardo Gonzalez”
We pride ourselves in being a family destination for all generations and are proud to be recognized as such in Huffington Post as a family holiday offering a one-of-a-kind experience!
“The Galapagos Islands are home to some of the most unique species in the world, and Ecoventura’s fleet of cruises brings families face to face with the archipelago’s diverse islands. Experiences include swimming alongside sea lions and their pups, watching Blue Footed Boobies shake their feet in a mating dance and snorkeling with penguins off the pristine islands of Santa Cruz and Isabella.”
If you’re a guest who traveled with us over the past year we would love to hear your stories from your trip and see your photos. Please share them to our Facebook page so we can help inspire other travelers to visit the Galapagos!
Happy New Year from our team at Ecoventura!
