Holiday season is here, and as we look back over this past year we are overjoyed with all of the new adventures and opportunities that we have to be thankful for.
Here are a few of our highlights!
We take pride in our endemic species here in the Galapagos Islands and as we continually fight to conserve their habitats and protect them against introduced species, we remind ourselves how grateful we are that we are able to share the land with them and keep their islands unspoiled.
Our Chefs have worked hard to design each meal we serve onboard, and are proud to have finally put together our favorite recipes for you to take home and prepare in your own kitchen. Our new recipe book, The Flavors of the Galapagos highlights our favorite dishes from Ecuadorian Cuisine and is currently available onboard our yachts!
The Charles Darwin Station celebrated 50 years this past year. 50 Years of working hard to bring back the Galapagos Tortoise from near extinction and eradicate goats from Isabela, neither which is a small task. Their work has helped keep the Galapagos pristine and for that we are thankful!
At the end of the day one of our favorite things to do is sit outside and watch the sun set. The beautiful colors dancing across the water as the sun sets behind the island is indescribable!
Our New Reusable Water Bottles
Starting in 2014, we are actively working towards completely eliminating the use of plastic water bottles on all Ecoventura cruises to lessen our environmental impact. Earlier this year we started distributing reusable water bottles (pictured above) to all of our guests. We are grateful to everyone who is joining with us to create a sustainable experience for all of our guests.
Our talented videographers and photographers that visit
We are lucky to have so many talented videographers and photographers cruise the Galapagos with us. They return with one-of-a-kind footage from their experiences that help inspire others to visit. We’ve highlighted many of these photos and videos on our blog throughout the year, here are a few:
In January 2016 we are launching our newest and most luxurious yacht in the Galapagos, M/V Origin. Santiago Dunn, President of Ecoventura, is designing the MV Origin to be the most comfortable and environmentally efficient yacht in the Galapagos. With two decades of experience in sustainable travel, he aims to reduce fossil fuel consumption by 45%, which isn’t easy considering we will be cruising at 12 knots so that our guests can spend as much time as possible at each site. Find out what makes M/V Origin unique.
Without such a seasoned and enthusiastic group, our cruises wouldn’t be as informative or entertaining. We’ve always prided ourselves in putting together one of the best teams in the Galapagos, and they never disappoint. Our guests come back raving about not only the once in a lifetime experiences they had of swimming alongside penguins and lounging on the beach with sea lions, but they complement the naturalist guides, captain and crew with the highest accolades.
We love hosting so many different groups who have such a passion for exploring. Every day on board the Eric, Flamingo and Letty is an adventure, and we have you to thank for that! Thank you for you kind reviews and recommendations over the years, and for sharing your experience with your friends and family members.
As this year ends we want to hear what you are thankful for. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
