Ecoventura welcomes families with children ages twelve and up on all expedition vessels throughout the year. Families with children ages seven and up can travel on any of our designated Family Departures. Family departures, including Family TEEN departures and Family GRADUATION departure are geared towards families who prefer to travel with other families with other similar aged children. Designated family departures are offered over school breaks and feature age-appropriate activities depending on the ages and number of children on board. Our naturalists know how to bring these Islands they love to life and to balance learning with fun for the entire family.

2012 Family departures on the Eric, Flamingo or Letty:

(F) = Family departures are ideal for children ages 7 to 12
Kids can visit the bridge and learn about navigational charts and tie nautical knots with our Captain. Special parties include games with prizes, drawing contests, ice cream social sundaes and our King Neptune costume party and talent show. We also have board games, books and DVDs on board that are suitable for children. There are masks, fins, wet suits and life vests in child sizes available. A separate briefing geared toward the younger ones and kid-friendly menus are offered on family departures (in addition to the regular menu for adults: Here is a sample: Breakfast: hot chocolate, milk, apple juice, fruit loops, lucky charms, pancakes, fresh fruit, bagels with crème chese, muffins, Lunch: hot dogs, hamburgers, turkey or tuna sandwich, plain pastas, mac and cheese. Dinner: spaghetti with marinara sauce, chicken fingers, steaks, French fries or baked potato, vegetables. Desert: Ice crème, Jello, cakes. Snacks: pizzas, pop corn, pretzels, chips.

(T) = Family TEEN departures are ideal for children ages 12 to 17
These trips will be more physically active than an all-adult or family departures with younger children, our guides will optimize the longest trails and all kayaking and snorkeling opportunities. Special parties include movies and popcorn and our King Neptune costume party. We also have board games, books and DVDs that teenagers enjoy.

(G) = NEW - Family Graduation departures are ideal for ages 17-21
These trips will be more physically active than an all-adult or family departures with younger children, our guides will optimize the longest trails and all kayaking and snorkeling opportunities. You will be in the company of other high school and college graduates and their families and siblings. We will offer special parties include movies and popcorn and our King Neptune costume party. We also have board games, books and DVDs that teens enjoy. Note: please inquire which weeks have TEENS on board at the time of booking as family departures dates are subject to change. Occasionally, a family departure could be a group of mixed ages 7-17 or mixed adults and children

Terms & Conditions

Child discounts:

Children age 11 years and younger at the time of sailing are entitled to a 25% discount off the cruise rate and also 50% discount off the airfare and park tax with photocopy of the child’s passport showing date of birth.

Children ages 12-17 years are entitled to a 15% discount off the cruise rate only.
Child discounts are applied to cabins on the iguana deck unless not otherwise available. No child discounts are permitted on holiday departures (H) over the Christmas, New Year and Easter holidays.

Age restrictions: Children under 7 years of age are not accepted unless the parents or legal guardians sign a hold harmless release. Children age 11 and younger are permitted only on a designated family departure. Children under the age of 5 are only permitted on exclusive charter basis.

Other conditions: We allow only one child discount to be given per every adult fare paid. And, Ecoventura may limit the number of child discounts permitted on any one departure. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult over age 21. Children under 12 cannot be confirmed on Booby deck cabins. When children are accommodated in a triple cabin, the discount is calculated from the double iguana deck rate.
