Santiago is a native of Guayaquil, where he lives with his wife and four sons. He graduated from Boston College with a BS in Finance and Economics and a minor in Marketing. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Aviation from Condordia University in Montreal. In 2005, the Rainforest Alliance presented Santiago with its prestigious Individual Sustainable Standard-Setter award for making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and sustainability. Santiago is a member of the National Council of the World Wildlife Fund and is on the board of Ecology Project International.
VP, Chief Financial Officer
Daniel is a native of Guayaquil, Ecuador where he lives with his wife and three children. He graduated from The Catholic University in Guayaquil with a degree in Economics. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Banking & Finance from the University of Santa Maria de Chile. Daniel sat on the Board of Directors of the banking industry in Quito before joining Ecoventura in 1998. His hobbies include playing full contact sports, surfing, weight training and tennis. Daniel’s goal is to generate economic value to allow the company to give back to the environment.
Rafael started working with Ecoventura in 1993 as the Captain of the MY Eric and later the Galapagos Sky. Now he is in charge of the complete operation and moved with his family to Guayaquil (he is originally from Quito) where he attended the Merchant Marine Academy and became a formal Officer. He also studied Business Administration at a local University. Rafael finds his job is both incredibly wonderful and stressful. He must continuously monitor every vessel and solve all kind of issues on board which is a real challenge. “Galapagos is a isolated place and we have developed a very quick response time to keep the boats in a good shape and running smoothly”.
Jorge started working with Ecoventura in 2011 as the Head of Maintenance. He has a long career involved in the maintenance and operation of all kinds of ships, starting in 1989 with Container and passenger ships in South Korea, Florida and Panama, and later with tourism motor yachts in the Galapagos Islands. At Ecoventura, his focus is on preventitive and corrective maintenance and also part of the team that plans for dry docks.
Quality Control & Environment
Patricio is currently a student of Engineering in Environmental Management at UEES. While on vacation as a child in the countryside with his father, he learned to appreciate the preservation of natural resources. At Ecoventura, he is responsible for the environmental control, monitoring the Maritime Safety Code and Environmental Responsibility. Previously, he worked as an Environmental Consultant at SAMBITO as part of the Technical Staff for developing environmental impact studies and audits. His hobbies include playing soccer, exploring new dive sites, hiking in the rainforest and birding.
Delia graduated as an Engineer in Business Administration with a Major in Food & Beverage Management from the Universidad de Especialidades Espiritu Santo in Guayaquil (UEES)She started working with Ecoventura in 2015, where she maintains the quality of comfort and functionality of the interiors of the yachts. Delia is constantly training to her team to provide an excellent service and to constantly improve.
Food & Beverage Manager
Andreina graduated in 2014 as an Engineer in Food Science with a mayor in Food and Beverage Management from the Universidad de Especialidades Espiritu Santo (UEES). She started working at Ecoventura in 2015, where her duties are to address all food service on vessels from the supply of groceries to verifying compliance with our guests’ special diets. “Along with my staff of chefs and waiters, we are constantly being trained to offer excellent service and also to make Ecuadorian gastronomy well known around the world, highlighting the wide range of products offered by our country.”
Rocio studied Business Administration at the local University in Guayaquil and afterwards chose to specialist in in Human Resources at the Technologico de Monterrey, a Superior educational center with a famous background. In 2002, she joined Ecoventura as an Assistant of the Human Resources Manager and in 2007 was promoted based on her strong performance in a challenging position. “My main responsibility is to search for the most qualified crew members and guides that will provide the highest level service with safe best practices on board”.
Juan Pablo Bastidas
IT Systems Coordinator
Juan Pablo studied Electronic and Telecomunications at ESPOL. His hobbies are computers, soccer and music. He has worked in the IT department since 2016 and is in charge of computer security and the optimal operation of computer equipment, servers, and networking in all locations including on board.

Our accounting department is managed by Renzo Luque who started working with Ecoventura in 1991.
Operations Dept. Assistant
Alba started working with Ecoventura in 1990 when the ERIC and FLAMINGO were in ship yard being built. She developed her knowledge in different departments, but enjoys working most in the Operations Department. She is in charge of making sure the boats are in top shape with all the related paperwork for Certifications with the Maritime Authorities and Galapagos National Park. Her job demands a considerable amount of patience and effort. Alba enjoys reading and spending time at home with her family.
Diana has worked for Ecoventura since 2005 as the Assistant for both Santiago Dunn and Eco. Daniel Plaza. In her spare time, she makes productions for TV commercials, music videos and documentaries. “I love to take advantage of the weekends to dedicate entirely to be with my family”.
Johanna graduated from the Commercial Engineer career at the University of Guayaquil in Faculty Administrative Sciences. Currently, she is working on her thesis while working as Assistant in the Human Resources area since 2011. “I enjoy my work and consider that human capital is a key factor in any organization”.

When you check in for your Avianca flight in Guayaquil (GYE) on Sunday, Jorge will assist you. He is a global citizen at heart, loves to travel, meet new people and discover new places. He studied Hotel Management in Switzerland and has over 20 years experience in Airlines & Tourism and hospitality industry. Jorge is fluent in English, French, Italian, and also speaks some Dutch. Jorge is Ecoventura flyer who will accompany our passengers on the flight to the Galapagos islands and assist with inquiries.
Lourdes "Luly" Mena
Sales Manager - Quito
Luly studied Advertising and Public Relations. She started working with Ecoventura in 1993 and previously worked on board a ship in the Galapagos for four years as an Administrator and French translator. “I am proud to work for a company with a serious commitment to provide excellent service and security to our passengers and that is responsible with the fragile ecosystem of the Archipelago”. In her spare time, she enjoys weekends at her family farm outside Quito, spoiling her two English Spaniels, playing tennis, soccer and Pilates.
Elena studied Hospitality Administration at the local University in Quito and had the opportunity to work two years in the Dominican Republic for an international practice in Guest services and Sales. Since 2010, she has the pleasure to collaborate with Ecoventura in the sales department in Quito. “I enjoy spending time with my daughter – for a movie, riding bicycles, trying to cook, walking the dogs and relaxing at home with a good cup of Ecuadorian coffee”.

When you check in for your flight in Quito (UIO) on Sunday, Diego is the person who will be behind the counter to give you your boarding pass, cruise ticket, prepaid TCT and park tax receipts, etc. He can assist you with anything else you may need before the flight departs.
Manager - SCY
Vinicio lives in San Cristobal and has worked for Ecoventura since 1992. He manages our warehouse and makes sure all supplies arrive and are delivered to the yachts. He also manages our Pack for A Purpose program.
Doris J. Welsh
VP, Director of Sales & Marketing
Doris made her first trip to Galapagos in 1986 and has been hooked ever since, having made over 40 trips there. “Each time has been unique and spectacular especially working with journalists and film crews. The most rewarding aspect is having guests return and telling me it was the best trip of their life.” She started working with Galapagos Network in 1990 and is active in IGTOA as a founding member and serving on the board. While at FSU she spent a semester in Costa Rica where she learned Spanish and first discovered eco-tourism. Currently, she lives in the Florida Keys where she enjoys boating, birding, snorkeling, growing orchids and eating stone crabs.
Reservations Manager - Galapagos Network
Paulina started working with Galapagos Network in 1999 when she discovered a deep passion for exploring and learning about the enchanted Islands of Galapagos during several trips there. “It is a great pleasure for me to be able to share my experience in Galapagos with our passengers.” Paulina was born in Long Beach, California, where she lived with her Ecuadorian parents and traveled the amazing state on camping trips. She studied tourism and after graduation returned to Ecuador to work as a tourist guide. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, the beaches of South Florida, and kayaking at our National Parks with her husband and four children.
DivEncounters Alliance - Founder
After 25 years in land based dive resort industry, Peter started a new direction in the live-aboard dive boat industry from 1991 to 2008 as President of Peter Hughes Diving, Inc and Dancer Fleet. He is currently the founder of DivEncounters, a worldwide alliance of like-minded individuals who own and operate luxury live-aboard vessels in the world’s most highly sought after dive destinations. Peter bring a wealth of knowledge and notoriety and was recently awarded with the BTS Diver of the Year Award and Reaching Out Award / DEMA Hall of Fame.
DivEncounters - Sales Manager
Amy oversees the daily operation for the DivEncounters Alliance of like-minded companies who operate dive live-aboards in exotic locations including the Galapagos Sky. Amy has been diving for 20 years and is a Master Scuba Diver Trainer with both PADI and SDI/TDI certifications. Her highest level of training is TDI Advanced Nitrox/ Decompression procedures and aspires to continue her technical dive training. She is a dedicated ocean and beach conservationist who actively organizes and participate in underwater and beach clean-ups. She enjoys educating divers on sharks, sea turtles, lion fish, goliath groupers and the entire marine environment. Originally from Rochester, NY, she currently resides in Jupiter, Florida.
