5 Apps to Download Before Your Galapagos Cruise with Ecoventura

AUTHOR Daniel Andino

Apps designed to help you travel wisely are so plentiful these days, it would be crazy not to use at least one in preparation of your next trip! But which one should you use, out of so many?

Ecoventura is thrilled to present our favorite travel apps that will give you peace of mind for your upcoming trip to the Galapagos. From language and internet guides, to apps that will help you give back to the community –  we have you covered in the technology department. Read on to see our top picks for travel apps!

Pack For a Purpose

We’ve teamed up with Pack for a Purpose to provide our guests with an opportunity to give back to the locals of the Galapagos. This is an easy, fun and very effective way to make a difference in someone’s life. We give you a list of supplies that local communities need, you bring five pounds of those supplies along with you on your tour, and we will pass your supplies to the foundation, who will deliver them to the communities in need. It’s simple, and the whole family can get involved. Pack for a Purpose may not be an app yet, but visit this website to learn more about one of our favorite non-profit organizations.

Duolingo

One excellent way to prepare for your Galapagos trek is to brush up on your Spanish! Duolingo makes it easy by teaching you the foundations of any language in a fun and easy way, just five minutes every day. The lessons feel like games, and the more you play, the more rewards you get. Learn a little bit every day, and by the time you travel to Ecuador, you’ll navigate like a pro.

WiFi Finder

Looking for a place to plug into the internet in a strange city can be daunting. Searching for a nearby cafe or restaurant that has WiFi can lead to some serious cell roaming charges. You don’t have to worry about that with WiFi Finder. Search for your next stop ahead of time, and store the WiFi credentials and password in WiFi Finder. You’ll gain the ability to hop from one network to another without wasting roaming time, or wondering when you’ll next get a connection. This is essential if you need crucial information about your next destination, or if you just want to upload a picture of your vacation to Facebook. Either way, you’ll be set!

Galapagos Islands Offline Map Travel Guide

There is no shortage of adventure on an Ecoventura tour! When you have the chance to explore local cities during either itinerary, you may be curious where you should spend your time. There is a lot to explore in a new place, and you don’t want to wander aimlessly the whole time. This travel guide can help!

From finding your location using GPS to showing you every point of interest nearby –  restaurants, museums, banks, shopping, and more. Tap on any spot near you to get full information about the destination, as well as a route to get there from anywhere you are. The best part is you can use this map even when you’re offline, so you don’t have to worry about getting lost or using roaming data. You will never be at a loss for places to visit when you’re using this travel app.

Ramblr

Travelling to the Galapagos is one amazing adventure – where else can you say you observed wildlife where Darwin once stood? Record your hikes, walks, and saunters on the island with ramblr, the app that can track your route on the map, record a video or audio recording of your adventure, and give you stats on just how much you’ve journeyed so far. This is your opportunity to share your adventure with friends and family back home while you snorkel with giant tortoises, look for blue-footed boobies on Santa Cruz Island, or just enjoy a peaceful evening on the yacht.
